About This Development

The Butterfly: A New Landmark in Vancouver's Skyline

Architectural Vision

The Butterfly is a 57-storey luxury residential tower located in downtown Vancouver. Designed by Revery Architecture, the tower's unique sculpted façade is inspired by the ephemeral nature of clouds, symbolizing elegance, grace, and transformation. This distinctive form establishes The Butterfly as a bold new landmark, gracefully marking the high point of the city's downtown peninsula and serving as a gateway into the vibrant West End neighbourhood.

Integration with First Baptist Church

This mixed-use development seamlessly integrates with the historic First Baptist Church (FBC), built in 1911. The project includes the heritage upgrade, rehabilitation, and expansion of the church, incorporating various community programs such as a daycare facility, administrative offices, café, multi-purpose community spaces, a new counselling centre, and a mid-rise social housing building. This integration fosters community spirit through innovative forms of social and environmental sustainability.

Innovative Design Features

The Butterfly features unique outdoor sky gardens at each residential level, providing semi-private spaces that reconnect residents with nature and encourage social interaction. These sky gardens offer environmental benefits through natural cooling, ventilation, and daylight, enhancing occupant comfort and reducing overall energy demands compared to conventional enclosed corridors. Additionally, the tower includes a striking two-lane, 50-metre swimming pool that bridges the main amenity space and the podium roof, creating an immersive, multi-sensory experience.

Residences

The Butterfly offers 331 luxury condominium units, ranging from one- to three-bedroom homes. Residences are categorized into Sub Penthouses (53rd to 56th floors), Estates (40th to 52nd floors), and Homes (5th to 39th floors). Each unit features spacious layouts with large-scale matte white flooring, Italian-crafted kitchens with custom-designed islands, and spa-like bathrooms, providing a serene and elegant living environment.

Amenities

Residents can enjoy a wellness and aqua centre, which includes a fully-equipped fitness studio, yoga room, lounge space, a 50-metre lap pool, hot tub, and sauna. Additional amenities include a private car and bike share service, pet wash and relief area, and expansive outdoor sky gardens that promote a sense of community and connection with nature.

Commitment to Sustainability

Designed to LEED Gold standards with an on-site low-carbon district energy plant, The Butterfly exceeds local requirements for building performance, low carbon energy supply, sustainable site design, access to nature, green mobility, water efficiency and stormwater management, zero waste planning, and affordable housing, all while providing numerous community amenities.

With its innovative design, integration with historic architecture, and commitment to sustainability, The Butterfly offers a unique opportunity to experience elevated living in the heart of Vancouver.
